Not enough workplace facilities for disabled
Companies are failing to provide adequate facilities for people with disabilities, according to 63% of respondents who took part in a poll last month by Select Appointments. Almost all fo the 700 participants would like to see changes carried out in their workplace to make the environment more inclusive for disabled employees.
Although two thirds of those who took part in the poll perceive their workplace as failing to meet the needs of the disabled, businesses must adhere to the guidelines laid down in the 1995 Disability Discrimination Act.
Bernard Latham, health and safety advisor, Select Appointments said: “Either businesses are complying with the Act and are failing to communicate this, or they are providing facilities that fall short of legislative requirements.”
