Access in Summary
Accommodation
There are five accessible bedrooms located a short distance from reception on the ground floor. All of the bedrooms have an ensuite with a bath. The rooms have a good level of circulation and there are vibrating pillows and flashing beacons for the hard of hearing in the event of a fire alarm.
Car Parking/Drop Off
There is a good sized car park located to the front of the hotel. There are five accessible spaces located next to the hotel entrance. The car park is on level access and there is a shallow incline up to the entrance.
Public Transport
The nearest bus stop is located on London Road and is approximately a 10 minute walk from the hotel. The route is on level access but does require crossing a busy junction which is an access road for the local supermarket and retail park. Care should be taken as there is no designated pedestrian crossing point.
Access into Hotel
The hotel is approached from Highbridge Road. This runs parallel with the North Circular. There is level access to the hotel via the hotel car park. There is a small incline from the car park up to the entrance and there is a raised door threshold which a wheelchair user will find difficult to negotiated unaided. There are two sets of double doors which provide access into the reception lobby. The side doors are secured at night and can be opened by using a room key card in a slot which is located to the left of the door. There is also a buzzer next to the card slot should assistance be required.
Circulation
The hotel is easy to navigate as all facilities lead from the reception lobby. There is a good level circulation in the public areas and all areas are on level access. There are doors from reception to the bar and restaurant, and also a secure door from reception to the bedroom accommodation and customer toilets. This door can be accessed by guests with a room key card. Non residents wishing to use the toilets can gain access by alerting a member of staff.
Reception
The reception faces the main entrance and is therefore easy to be located upon arrival. The main counter is not of an accessible height however staff will offer assistance to customers who find the counter too high. The counter has an induction loop and a portable chip and pin machine. Within the reception lobby is a vending machine, seating and two internet stations.
Bars
'Bar Est' Bar and restaurant is located next to reception and is on level access via a set of double doors. The bar opens in the evening and at weekends to residents only. Food from the restaurant can be ordered at the bar and taken in the restaurant. There is also a table service for customers who find the bar counter too high. There is an induction loop facility, chip and pin machine and menus in large print and pictorial representation. There is a selection of seating to suit all users including the availability of highchairs.
Restaurants
The restaurant is located to the rear of the bar. There is an open plan entrance which is on level access where customers are met and accompanied to a table. There is a full table service in operation and the menus are offered in large print and pictorial representation. A portable induction loop and a chip and pin machine is available. There is also a range of seating including the availability of highchairs.
Staff: Languages spoken
The hotel has a good compliment of staff who are on hand 24 hours a day to provide assistance. There are a number of languages spoken at the hotel dependant on shift patterns. With this in mind we would recommend that the hotel is contacted in advance should a specific language be required.
