Access in Summary
Accommodation
There are three accessible bedrooms which are located on the ground floor a short distance from reception and adjacent to the lift. The lift provides level access to the bar and restaurant. All of the bedrooms have an accessible en-suite fitted with a bath.
Car Parking/Drop Off
The hotel has a small courtyard car park with only a handful of spaces which are on a first come first served basis. There is one accessible space located directly outside of the hotel entrance. The drop off point is also located outside of the entrance. There is level access from the car park and drop off point to the entrance.
Public Transport
Whilst there is public transport within ten minutes, there is no step free access to the hotel. The hotel is in a historic part of London and as such the hotel is surrounded by narrow pavements and cobbled/uneven surfaces.
Access into Hotel
The hotel entrance is located in a courtyard which is accessed from the car park. Where possible wheelchair users and customers that are unsteady on their feet should be dropped off in the courtyard as the route from the street involves a heavily cobbled access road. There is level access from the car park and drop off to the entrance. The entrance door is a double door providing level access into the reception lobby. Night entry will require the use of a key card in a slot located to the left of the door. Alternatively there is also a buzzer for attracting attention.
Circulation
The hotel adjoins a historic public house and as such has been altered to accommodate level access to all areas. The corridors are quite narrow in places and the leading edge of the internal doors has a minimal gap between the wall. The accessible floor of the bar and restaurant is located on the first floor and involves a considerable route from the ground floor via the bedroom corridors. For wheelchair users there is a lift to the first floor and then a platform lift to the restaurant level.
Reception
The reception can be found just inside of the hotel entrance. The reception counter has two heights to suit all users. A portable chip and pin machine is available. An internet station and vending machine are located within the reception lobby.
Bars
One floor of the Anchor public house can be accessed from within the hotel during breakfast and dinner. This reputed to be the second oldest bar in London and as such the lower bar areas are not on level access. Whilst the bar is not accessible staff will be happy to provide a full table service for guests who are dining and unable to access the bar area.
Restaurants
An evening meal is available in the Anchor public house which can be accessed from within the hotel via a passenger lift and platform lift. The accessible floor is only open for breakfast and dinner. The bar areas are not step free and access is restricted to the bar and restaurant outside of breakfast and dinner hours. A continental breakfast is available on a self service basis and a table service is in operation for traditional breakfasts and also evening meals. Staff assistance is available throughout breakfast and dinner.
Staff: Languages spoken
There is a good compliment of staff on duty at all times and staff assistance is available for customers requiring assistance when accessing the adjoining bar and restaurant. There are a number of languages spoken at the hotel although we would recommend that the hotel is contacted in advance should a specific language be required.
