Main Hospital Entrance
The main hospital entrance has double automatic doors that slide open on approach. There is a covered area providing weather protection and the threshold is level.
Main Lobby Area
The information desk is located a short distance away from the main entrance doors inside the main lobby area. There is a low level counter which is accessible and an induction loop is installed.
The surrounding area and the desk are well lit and there are various seating opportunities in the lobby.
The Food Court is located inside the lobby area just next to the main entrance; there are self service counters that are accessible and a large seating area provided. There is an accessible toilet located next to the Food Court area which has an open plan entrance.
The Tempo Café is located opposite the Food Court and food and drinks are served from the counter, staff would be able to offer assistance if required. Also in the main lobby area is the Go Shop which sells magazines and snacks and is located next to the Food Court. All of the facilities have open plan entrances providing good level access.
Accident and Emergency Entrance
This entrance has a double set of automatic doors that slide open on approach. There is also an intercom system at an accessible height if assistance is required.
Accident and Emergency Waiting Area
The waiting area is well lit and seating is provided. There is a vending machine and an accessible toilet available. The reception area has both high and low level counters and an induction loop is installed and is well signed.
Maternity Entrance
The Maternity Entrance has a double set of doors that open outwards. There is an intercom system at the right of the doors at an accessible height if assistance is required. There is a double set of automatic doors at the entrance that were not in use at the time of assessment.
Maternity Waiting Area
Once through the entrance doors there is lift access leading up to the waiting area. The waiting area has various seating styles and is well lit. There are two accessible toilets in the waiting area and a public telephone.
Haematology and Oncology Entrance
This entrance has a set of double automatic doors that slide open on approach. There is a very slight slope leading up to the doors and the threshold is level.
Haematology and Oncology Waiting Area
The waiting area provides seating and an accessible toilet. There is a reception desk that has a lower level counter. There is also a vending machine next to the reception desk.
Car Parking and Drop Off
There are various parking opportunities on the hospital grounds. There is a multi storey car park located next to the main entrance which has 24 accessible spaces on the ground level. The main car park is next to the multi storey and has 32 accessible spaces.
The Maternity car park holds 9 accessible spaces and the car park for the Haematology and Oncology Department holds 8 accessible spaces. There are also 2 council run car parks located nearby.
There is a drop off point outside the main entrance and the accident and emergency entrance. There is also an area where people can be dropped off just outside the Haematology and Oncology car park.
Public Transport
There are four bus stops located inside the hospital grounds on a central paved area. The routes to all departments from these points are accessible. There are also bus stops located on Oldchurch Road which is just outside the hospital.
Staff
The staff at the hospital are extremely friendly and helpful. Staff are always available to help with directions if required.
