Access in Summary
Car Park and Drop Off
The closest available public parking is in the area around St Pauls Square which is less than 100 metres walk from the RBSA Gallery. There is free parking for blue badge holders and pay and display parking for general use.
It is possible to drop off directly outside the Gallery on Brook Street.
Transport
The Gallery is situated in the Jewellery Quarter just outside the City Centre. Local buses serve the area however the nearest Bus Stops are a short walk away.
Access at Entrance
There is level access from the pavement along Brook Street into the Gallery Entrance. The entry doors are wide inward opening double doors. Visitors should note that there is a slight offset lip of 20mm stepping onto the flagstone through the door threshold.
Reception
The Reception Desk is located to the left of the entrance in the open plan area of the Ground Floor. There is a wheelchair accessible section of the Reception Desk available. A portable chip and pin machine is provided at the Reception Desk. The Gallery is free admission but donations are appreciated. However, workshops and events are arranged throughout the year for which payment may be required.
Facilities
Please note that gallery spaces are closed for exhibition change-overs. To view the start and end dates of the exhibitions on show please consult the website (www.rbsa.org.uk).
The Ground Floor of the building is an open plan gallery area containing the Craft Gallery, Café and Back Wall 2D exhibition areas and Café 3D exhibition area. The Reception Desk is located centrally and the Cafeteria to the rear of the space. There are no internal doors.
A second large Gallery takes up the majority of the space on the First Floor with a small office area and utility/storage area to one side. The First Floor Gallery is also used for workshops which the RBSA run throughout the year. The First Floor Gallery is closed during these times. There are male toilets in the stair lobby area and female toilets directly off of the main gallery.
The top/Second Floor Gallery is again a single large open plan gallery space. This Gallery is never closed for workshops. Although school visits and workshops may take place in the space throughout the year, there is always an exhibition open to the public.
Accessible toilet facilities are available on the Ground Floor. General toilet facilities are located on the First Floor.
There is a self service cafeteria located on the Ground Floor. A lowered section of self service counter is provided and adjacent reception staff are on hand to offer assistance if required.
Access to All Areas
There is a passenger lift located centrally within the building. The lift accesses all floors and exits directly into the gallery areas. There are stairs which can be used as an alternative to gain access to the upper floors of the building.
