Access in Summary
Transport
There are regular bus stops located on both Harton Lane and McAnany Avenue with bus routes stopping frequently. An additional bus stop is located within the hospital grounds, this bus stop offers limited services in the evenings and on Sundays.
Car Park and Drop Off
There are four main Car Parks within the hospital grounds. The main visitor/patient Car Park has accessible parking spaces. There are additional accessible bays located outside the Pharmacy and Maternity entrances. There is a policy that states if all accessible bays are full blue badge holders may park in other visitor bays free of charge. Drop off points are also located outside the Deans Wing and Maternity Entrances.
Access at Entrance
All the entrances have step free access with the main entrances having automatic doors for easy access. The main entrance has an alternative accessible entrance besides the revolving doors which is a single automatic door with a push pad activation system.
Reception
The main reception has an induction loop and low counter available with a clutter free area for writing. The main reception in both the Ingham Wing and Outpatients have a voluntary greeting service. These people are there to help patients and visitors who may need a variety of assistance upon arrival.
Facilities
There are coffee shops located at the main entrance and at Outpatients. A restaurant is also located off of the hospital corridor. Within the main entrance corridor there is a shop and building society with a cash machine available.
Accessible toilets and baby change facilities are also available throughout the main building.
Access to All Areas
There is step free access to all departments within the main hospital with access gained from the main corridor. Within the corridors, signage is clear and at key junction points. There are lifts and stairs giving access to the upper floors.
