Car Parking / Drop Off
There are several access points to the Suffolk Coast National Nature Reserve. Currently detailed access information is only available for the Hoist Covert Car Park.
Hoist Covert car park accessible from Lodge Road. The surface consists of natural trodden ground which is uneven but firm under foot.
Old Town Marshes and Seven Acre Lane Walk
Old Town Marshes and Seven Acre Lane Walk is a circular route of approximately 3km.
Boardwalks are used in various places for ease of passage over boggy areas.
To the Sea
This walk follows the Old Town Marshes route for the first 1 kilometre and then follows old sea walls across the Old Town Marshes until it reaches the sea after a further kilometre. Return by the same route.
Westwood Marshes
This walk follows the Old Town Marshes route for the first 1 kilometre and then follows old sea walls across the Westwood Marshes going past the iconic old wind pump tower. At 3km there is a birdwatching hide. At about 5km the route reaches the Hinton Fiveways car park, before turning eastwards along the byway to reach Hoist Covert car park at the end of a 10km walk.
