Transport
The nearest available tube station to Great Ormond Street Hospital is Russell Square station on Bernard Street which is approximately 500 metres away from the Hospital. Russell Square station is on the Piccadilly line with services every five minutes, there is no step free access to the platforms at this station. Bus routes 7, 8, 25, 59, 68, 91, 98, 168, 188, 242 and 521 all stop a short walk away from the hospital. Low-floor, wheelchair accessible buses run all routes.

Car Parking
There is no designated car park available at this hospital. There are small areas on surrounding streets which are pay and display on-street parking. These may be used free of charge by Blue Badge holders. On-street parking in this area is available for a maximum of two hours and is regularly patrolled by parking wardens. It is advisable to contact the hospital prior to arriving as parking is extremely limited and alternative methods of travelling should be sought out.
Access at Entrance
The main hospital entrance is currently undergoing refurbishment and will be temporality out of use until September 2013.
An alternative entrance is located at the front of the hospital on Great Ormond Street and gives access to level two via the Outpatients Department.
The Octav Botnar Entrance is situated on Lamb’s Conduit Street. Access is gained through double, automatic, sliding doors leading to a small lobby area, from this lobby there is either a lift or stairs leading to the Main Reception for this private patient wing.
Facilities
There are accessible toilets with baby changing facilities situated conveniently on all floors near the central lift lobbies. These toilets are well signposted. There are also both male and female toilets on all floors and within many departments. Accessible toilet facilities are available within x-ray and the outpatients department on the ground floor.

The Italian Wing
The Italian Wing is an accommodation block on floors three, four and five for parents of children receiving treatment within the hospital. The Italian Wing is situated close to the Main Entrance on Queens Square. Entry to the Italian Wing is through a large double door over a level threshold. There is an intercom to the right of the entrance to alert staff of your presence. Once inside the building, the dual height reception desk is immediately in front of you. Staff here can book you into your accommodation and direct you to your room. There is both lift and stair access to all floors.
Weston House
Weston House is directly opposite the Main Hospital on Great Ormond Street. The building can be accessed via the steps immediately in front of the door or the large ramp to the right of the entrance which allows for step free access into the building.
The Reception Desk is located immediately inside the entrance to the left. Weston House offers conference facilities on the ground and lower ground floor, there are also accessible toilet facilities available on the ground floor. The upper floors house the main parent and relative accommodation block for families with children receiving treatment within the hospital. There are a number of fully accessible rooms available. All floors are accessible via lifts or stairs.
York House
York House is primarily an office function for the hospital with Human Resources, Estates and IT all housed within the building. Access to the main reception area through the front door is via a single flight of steps. Alternative step free access can be arranged in advance. There is a separate door to the side of the building which allows step free access into the lift and stair lobby area.
Just inside the entry doors is a small reception area with a security desk to the left which is permanently manned. Visitors need to report to this desk and sign in. Staff members have their security swipe cards to access all floors via the lifts or stairs.
Department Access
Most departments within the hospital have locked doors preventing access onto the Department. This is a security measure to ensure the children do not leave the wards unaccompanied. Each department or ward has an intercom button outside. Press these buttons to alert staff who will remotely unlock the door to allow you to enter. After entering you should report to the nurses’ station or reception desk to inform staff of your presence.
To exit the wards or departments, there are buttons to the side of the door which will unlock the doors. Care should be taken to ensure that when you unlock the door nobody else leaves the department with you.
Access to All Areas
There is lift and stair access throughout the hospital within all buildings giving step free access to all departments. The main central lift lobby within the large variety club building is situated immediately behind the main reception area. There are two passenger lifts serving all floors available to the public. These lifts are to the right of the lift lobby. There are two service lifts to the left which are for the use of staff and bed patients only.
Morgan Stanley Clinical Building
The Morgan Stanley Clinical Building is a new build forming part of the Mittal Childrens Medical Centre and will replace the ageing southwood building. The building has excellent 'green' credentials with consideration to sustainability and the environment and will allow treatment to 20 per cent more children.
A large modern restaurant and coffee area is located on the second floor with televisions located throughout and a children's play area. There is a toilet and baby change area located in the restaurant and a large vending area.
Access to all levels is made from hospital street within the main building and its original lift locations.
